Trail Cards Available For Kentucky State Park Golf Courses In 2008

FRANKFORT, Ky. –The best golf in Kentucky is now available at the 20 courses operated by the Kentucky Department of Parks. For 2008, the Kentucky Golf Trail is again offering a “trail card” that provides unlimited paid green fees for the cardholder.

The trail card fees have remained the same and are sold at all state park golf courses and are valid through Dec. 31, 2008.  Cards start at $350 for senior players (62 and older).  For more information on the trail card, visit www.parks.ky.gov/golftrail

The trail cards can be used at all state park courses, including the eight “Signature Series” that offer championship play surrounded by some of the most scenic natural beauty the parks have to offer. Four of the Signature Series courses have received national accolades from Golf Digest as Best New Affordable and Best New Places to Play.

General Burnside Island State Park near Somerset is nearing completion of a new 18-hole golf course and has been added to the list of Signature Series courses.  Brian Ault, designer of Dale Hollow and Hidden Cove at Grayson Lake, both recognized nationally by Golf Digest, designed the course. The course is projected to open in late May, 2008.

Besides the renovation of General Burnside and the addition to the Signature Series courses, a new clubhouse being built at Hidden Cove Golf Course at Grayson Lake State Park near Grayson is scheduled to open in early February.

Kentucky State Parks will continue offering the Tee’s & Zzz’s golf and lodging packages at resort parks. Rates start at $89 per person per night from November through March and $109 April through October.

Kentucky State Park resorts also feature lodges, cottages, campgrounds, restaurants and other activities such as hiking, swimming, boating, and wildlife programs. If you are looking for some last minute holiday gift ideas, the Kentucky Unbridled Spirit gift cards make wonderful gifts.  Gift cards can be used at any Kentucky State Park, Kentucky Horse Park, Artisan Center and the Kentucky Historical Society.  For more information about state park golf trail cards, Tee’s and Zzz’s packages, gift cards and course photos, visit www.parks.ky.gov
