Par and yardage – Maketewah Country Club is set at 6,966 yards from the back tees (Blue) and is rated 72.3/130. The course plays to a par of 72 (36-36).

Architects: Maketewah Country Club was designed by Tom Bendelow with revisions by Donald Ross. The course opened in 1910.

2005 Champion – Michael Campbell (New Zealand) was the champion. The tournament was held at No. 2 Course at Pinehurst Resort at Village of Pinehurst, North Carolina.

Pairings and Starting Times – 147 players will play 18 holes. Starting times begin at 7:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. off of tee #1 and #10.

History – This is the 106th annual U.S. Open Championship. Winged Foot Golf Club (Mamaroneck, New York) will host the tournament June 15-18, 2006. The championship is one of 13 national championships conducted annually by the USGA.

Who Can Enter – The United States Open Championship is open to any professional, or to any amateur with an up-to-date USGA Handicap Index not exceeding 1.4 under the Men's USGA Handicap System. When play starts on June 15, 156 players will be in the field. The road into this elite group begins at the Local Qualifying level. Beginning on May 10, at 110 sites around the United States, all entrants not exempt for Local and/or Sectional qualifying, compete in an 18-hole Local Qualifying Round at stroke play. After Local Qualifying, approximately 750 entrants, including those exempt from Local Qualifying, will be eligible for Sectional Qualifying Rounds. The Sectional Qualifying Rounds, consisting of 36 holes of stroke play, are scheduled for May 29, June 5 and 6 at 14 sites throughout the U.S., England, and Japan. The final field of 156 players is comprised of place-winners in the Sectional Qualifying Rounds and those exempt from both the Local and Sectional Qualifying Rounds.

Schedule of Play – The qualifier will be contested over 18 holes. Starting times begin at 7:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. The contestants are competing for 10 qualifying places (with 2 alternates) in sectional qualifying.
