Wie joins OMEGA’s Family of International Ambassadors

Young golf superstar latest addition for Swiss watchmaker

Swiss watchmaker OMEGA is pleased to announce that young golf superstar Michelle Wie has joined Ernie Els and Sergio Garcia in the luxury brand’s family of international golfing ambassadors.

The Omega Golfing Family also includes Korean player KJ Choi and Danish lady golfer Iben Tinning.

As a sport of character, golf is a perfect complement to a watch manufacturer like Omega.  The prestige Swiss brand is one of the few watchmakers in the world to boast a history and tradition that can compete with that of the noble sport of golf.

Wie has chosen to wear the Omega Speedmaster during her participation in LPGA and men’s tournaments.  She will commence her partnership with OMEGA by wearing the pink Speedmaster at the Fields Open, organised in Kapolei, Hawaii, from 23 to 25 February 2006.

Wie is the perfect addition to Omega’s Golfing Family, which already includes top international golf players Ernie Els from South Africa, winner of major golf tournaments (British Open, US Open and the Omega European Masters) and Spain’s Sergio Garcia, best European player in 2005 and winner of the Omega European Masters the same year.

Omega’s international involvement in golf includes official timekeeping, as well as tournament and player sponsorship. In 2005, Omega renewed through 2010 its title sponsorship of the Omega European Masters, which is played in Crans Montana, Switzerland. The brand is also involved in several other events on the European Tour as Official Timekeeper.
